Well,
We finally got the formula, MSPI, reflux stuff mastered.
Then it was 6 weeks of ear infections.
Sleeping well again, now how could we have more than 10 days of good sleep before something happens again!
Owen is not sleeping at night and is waking up coughing, puking more, not eating well, sticking his fingers down his throat.
Last week I posted I thought it was his teeth, but at that point he was still sleeping. Now one thing after another seems to make me think reflux!
My mom kept him all day today and of course reported that he was an angel. (what else would she say she’s the grandma) I really don’t know how he was today, but DH just said he was awake already and it’s only 10 pm.
Help! Does this sound like a flare of reflux?

Tonite, DH and I put it back up at a little angle and then put rolled blankets around him at that newborn positioner thing so that maybe he will stay at more of an angle tonite?????
This is going to make me crazy!

It seems like as soon as you get things figured out and things are going well something else happens. Bryce just recently went through something similar. He was putting his fingers down his throat, puking more, and not wanting to eat. It ended up being teething for him… one long 2+ month bout of it with a week long break in between. He’s finally doing better now. So anyway, I wouldn’t disregard teething yet. I sure hope you can get things figured out soon and back to a good-sleeping, happy Owen.
Oh, and as for the elevated mattress… we use one of those Danny slings to keep Bryce in place. It’s worked really well for us. Sounds like you might have found a solution though.
June 4, 2007 at 10:40 am #35533AnonymousInactiveWhat is the Danny Sling?
I worry about putting the bed at an angle and then dd falling down to the bottom..
June 4, 2007 at 11:01 am #35536AnonymousInactiveThe danny sling holds the baby up on the elevated mattress so they don’t slide down. It’s nice because you can put them in it on their back or tummy and they can still roll from side to side, but stay upright.

We just finished Ben’s second antibiotic for the ear infections, and I think it has helped, but he is still so fussy! I hate to take him back to the doctor when he has to go on the 15th for his 9 mo. check up anyway. I feel like he has been so for FOREVER!!! And now, he has developed this cough that his waking him up at nights. I can’t tell if it’s reflux related or post nasal drip or drainage from his ears or what!!!
He also could be teething, as he has no teeth yet, and is certainly due.
But, through all this reflux nightmare, his nighttime sleep has been pretty consistent.. not anymore. He is also waking soon after we put him down at night, and was up last night 4 times.. I finally went in at 5:30.. and rocked him back to sleep.
He used to wake up happy from sleep both in the morning and at naps. This hasn’t happened in quite some time.
Anyway, I don’t have any solutions or answers, just some empathy. I’m right there with ya!
June 4, 2007 at 1:08 pm #35549AnonymousInactiveSorry things are so hard. I wouldn’t rule out teething either. Myles has been reflux free since 9 months, but he’d still stick his fingers in his mouth far enough to gag when he was cutting teeth, especially the molars. He was doing it again last week. He has those last four molars yet to come in.
I hope things get better soon.

OK, on the serious side, sorry you are having such a hard time. I keep teeling myself this will all end one day (and then mums of older children tell me you just replace this with a whole heap of other isses. Same sh*te different day
