We had well water growing up and the high iron in well water always irritated my scalp and I had to get treatments to get the rusty look out of my hair. I have read that high iron can be an eye and skin irritant. I would say it COULD be a possibility since babies have such sensitive skin? Just a thought.
P.S. that is ludacris about the Dr’s office!!

Just wondering if Trace’s rash ever went away or if you found out what it was??May 31, 2007 at 11:31 am #35114AnonymousInactivehi Heather.
the spots are getting smaller and sort of “dry” looking they arent reddish ans sore looking anymore. but i never went back after that horrible docs waiting room experience. i would love for a doc to look it over, but i just cant comprehend sitting there for 45 mintues with a screaming one year old for something that is not in any way bothering him ykwim? i really hate doctors offices. if it starts to flair up again or spread or anything, then i will def. take him in. i think they are hives from everything i have looked at. i dont think its a reaction to food, rather something exterior.
May 31, 2007 at 12:59 pm #35123AnonymousInactiveI’m glad to hear that Trace is doing better with his rash. What a horrible doctor’s office experience you had. It is hard to find a good MD, our Peds office is 45 mins away, since I don’t really like the other MDs around here, it is worth the drive! I’m sorry to hear about seperation from your husband, a refluxer (sick child) takes so much out of a marriage! I’m glad you have your parents to help!
May 31, 2007 at 3:39 pm #35156AnonymousInactiveI hate waiting at the peds office! What about a pediatric walk in? I’d hate for it to be something that needed treatment but never did.
June 4, 2007 at 8:54 pm #35619AnonymousInactiveok….you guys i have figured it out!!! its the strawberries. apparently he is allergic to strawberries the rash flared up like crazy every time he had them. now that he hasnt had them in several days its faded so much.
this really stinks!
June 4, 2007 at 9:11 pm #35624AnonymousInactiveHey Natalia… Claire had a bad reaction to strawberries the first few times she had them too (she was right at Trace’s age), and we were so bummed. She loved them so much! But we kept her away from them for several months and tried again, and now she has them with no problems.
We first started by rubbing a bit of the fruit on her hand and waited for a reaction.. if nothing, then rub some on her cheek, if nothing give her a small amount to eat, if nothing go from there.
Hopefully, after a short time, he will be able to eat them again.

It stinks so much when kids have food allergies/intolerances, but I am so glad you KNOW! By avoidance often times the body will not *remember* it was allergic – but it can take months, years…..
So glad you know!
June 4, 2007 at 10:08 pm #35630AnonymousInactiveKaelyn had a problem with strawberries until she was about 2. Now she does fine with them. So, there’s hope!
June 4, 2007 at 11:11 pm #35638AnonymousInactiveI’m glad you were able to figure out what was causing it. I hope he’s able to outgrown the allergy eventually.
June 5, 2007 at 8:40 am #35651AnonymousInactiveSarah also used to react to strawberries around Trace’s age by getting a rash (not as bad as his). We waited a few months, and then she was fine.
June 5, 2007 at 10:58 am #35660AnonymousInactiveTaylor has problems with Strawberries as well. I haven’t tried them again on her yet, it seem like with the above I should wait until she is a little older.
