No more pokes every two hours for vitals, no more hospital noises, no
more tests, no more getting woken up every morning at seven and greeted
with a doctor, no more needles, IV’s and sleepless nights. We are home!We
were discharged yesterday. But things have been so hectic! First,
before I even got home, I had to meet up somewhere with a medical
deliverer to get Quinn’s IV pole, her food bags and tubes and her pump.
Then when I got home, before i could even unpack, I had to clean the
house because it was an absolute wreck! Then I had to call pharmacies
and dr.’s for meds and follow up appointments. Then the nurse came over
at 7:20pm to show me how to use all this medical equipment and clean
her g-tube site. Then Q started getting fussy and it was time for bed
and so the nurse hooked her up to her feeds and left. By that time it
was already almost 9! I was soooo pooped! The nurse will be
coming daily for the next few days and then three times a week after
that. Ugh… what a night. I still haven’t had the opportunity to rest.
This morning I got up, unpacked our hospital stuff, which was a lot.
Designated a cupboard for tubes, syringes, gauze and all that other fun
stuff, packed a medical bag for Quinn’s caregiver, thank goodness it’s
my sister. And washed dishes and the nurse will be over soon. I have to
put clothes away still and vaccum and I have to be at work in a few
hours. Whew! When will rest come. Soon I would imagine.Quinn
is doing great. She is back to her normal self, and happy to be home,
I’m sure. Her belly is a little tender and bloated. The nurse said she
would like to keep a close eye on that. I like our nurse. She is really
sweet and she fully looked over her records, she knew everything about
her when she arrived. I was impressed!Anyways, I hope everyone is well. Thank you for
all your prayers and support. It means a lot. It’s amazing that all of
you are here for each other, especially during times like these, it
makes all the difference in the world. Thank you!-Sarah

May 23, 2007 at 4:04 pm #34254AnonymousInactiveI am happy that Quinn is home and feeling well! That’s great that she has a good nurse who you like to help you get accustomed to the tube feeding. I hope you get some rest soon. I can’t imagine having to work in the midst of all of this. That’s wonderful that your sister watches Quinn!
I hope Quinn thrives and does well on the tube and that she doesn’t have to have it for too long.

May 23, 2007 at 8:12 pm #34276AnonymousInactiveExcellent news!!! So glad all is well and she seems to be doing well!! We had a few not so great weeks at the beginning, where Matthew;s reflux was horrible, he started vomitting etc etc… little by little things got back to where they were before the surgery.
HUGS

I am sure that helps a lot and makes things better for Quinn. Such a strong mama. Hang in there! I hope she continues to improve!!
May 29, 2007 at 3:58 pm #34849AnonymousInactiveHow are things going for Quinn? I always found that once we were at home the eating seemed to slow. I hope Quinn is doing well and adjusting.
