Hi All! I’ve gone back to work, and don’t have as much time to post anymore, but today I’ve had several “issues” come up at once…
Dagney has a terrible diaper rash, and I’m trying to determine if it’s from the applesauce that I started her on on Saturday, or if it’s just a result of our long car trip this weekend. The diaper rash started last evening, but it got MUCH worse this morning, after she pooped. It’s all bumpy, really pink, and I think she may have even had a couple of little open bleeding sores. When she woke up this morning it wasn’t like that, but we went to the grocery store & she pooped on the way and I couldn’t change her until we got back home, which was actually only 45 minutes later! She didn’t seem to have any problems until last night, I noticed when I got home from work that she was really red, but nothing like she was earlier. Could the applesauce have caused this?? She started it on Saturday, would there be that much of a lag time for it to bother her? Or, possibly the car ride from not getting changed as often as normal?
Any input/suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks!

May 1, 2007 at 1:57 pm #31953AnonymousInactiveI know I read somewhere that acidic foods can cause a rash. I would aviod them for a while and see if it goes away.
May 1, 2007 at 3:38 pm #31981AnonymousInactiveIt could definitely be the applesauce. Addy gets rashes on her bum and face (along with other symptoms) when we introduce and new food and it bothers her. A nice thick layer of regular desitin (not the creamy kind) usually gives her some relief….all other ointments never work for her. I hope it clears up soon!
May 1, 2007 at 4:04 pm #31983AnonymousInactiveThanks! I think we’re going to cut out the applesauce for a little whiile and hope it all clears soon! I’ve been changing her every hour or so now, and using Triple Paste, which seems to help…wish me luck!
May 1, 2007 at 7:25 pm #32006AnonymousInactive? Teething Rash. Alana has never had diaper rash, but when she seems to be teething she gets a little pimply rash on her but (pretty similar to the one she gets on her chin from all that drool.
BTW, still no teeth….but I think i can see one!!!

May 4, 2007 at 1:48 pm #32211AnonymousInactiveKaelyn gets a horrible diaper rash whenever she eats her “allergic” foods, so it definitely could be the applesauce.
May 7, 2007 at 8:12 pm #32536AnonymousInactiveHi All!
Well, I brought Dagney to the dr on Thursday because they wanted to check it out, and it turns out she had a yeast infection, so it wasn’t diaper rash at all! I’m relieved it wasn’t the applesauce, which I gave it to her again, and she’s done fine with it since. They gave us some lotion to use on the yeast infection, which I guess can be fairly common.

May 8, 2007 at 9:59 am #32584AnonymousInactiveOh, my girls have had a couple of those yeasty rashes. I don’t why I didn’t think of that.
I hope it clears up soon. My doctor always says to use the lotion for a few days after it clears up to prevent it from coming right back.
