OMG!

Im so happy this morning! I dont know if it was just coinsadence(sp?) or the new medication but I gave Brielle a new med called zegarid for her reflux last night before bed at 10pm. Umm, it’s 10:35 in the morning and I just had to wake HER up. She did wake up one time last night and nursed for like a whole freaking two minutes but I dont even remember what time that was. I got up more than her to do potty breaks lol. PLEASE let the medicine be the miracle sleeper.

Yes, Zegerid has been the miracle cure for many babies here and some moms have seen results right away.

I do have a quick qeustion. One of the side effects of overdose is drowsiness. You dont think she was overdosed into sleeping do ya?

I am not sure…it could be that she is pain free and can sleep! Addy started sleeping a lot better when we started her on Zegerid and Neocate. I hope the good sleep continues!

You could go to http://www.marci-kids.com and check her dosage to see where it falls for her age and weight.

Well, the pediatrician called me today and changed her to the prevacid powder. He said after he researched the zegarid, its too risky to use it. He said its too new and that the sodium bicarbonate levels in it can throw an infants electrolite (Sp?) levels off which can cause irreversable Brain damage. He said because its such a new drug that know one knows what type of permanent damage might show up years down the road when these children taking it are older. lifeuntome2007-4-27 20:37:12

Do you mean Prevacid Packets? I never heard of Prevacid powder. Did he give you instructions on how to mix it?

Did he tell you where he read or researched that information? I think that would be very helpful to some of us whose children are on Zegerid.

Every search you do for Zegarid online except here and Marci-Kids says that about Zegarid. But I figured since Marci-Kids was so big on it and so many ladies here swear by it, that it would be ok and Im actually the one that pushed her ped into giving it to her. Ill try to pull up some info on it tomorrow.

Thats strange. I have done my fair share of Zegerid research and have never found anything about that. Anyone else here ever heard of that? I am going to start a new thread about this bc so many babies here are on Zegerid and I know they would like to hear about this.

Yeah, I was going to start a new thread and try to find the info about it today. Plus contact the maker with the info my doctor gave me and see what his responce was

I have no clue how to mix the prevacd powder. She just had some mylanta last night before bed and it was another long night.
