Thanks you all. I think the overall health kick trully is due to the peptamin Junior. She’s eating and drinking about the same, if not less, but her body is able to absorb the calories from that formula for some reason.
Lori, here’s some information for you about the peptamin Junior…
It’s made by Nestle Nutrition. It’s a complete elemental nutrtion for children ages 1-10.
You can call the info link M-F from 8am to 8pm E.T.
1-800-422-2752
Or visit them at Nestle-Nutrition.com
It is lactose and gluten free. but not for individuals with galactosemia.
We get ours through a pharmacy not anywhere near us. WIC referred us to this pharmacy since they said that they would not provide her formula and her insurance had to cover it. They mail us the formula and we keep in touch by phone. This pharmacy told me that they had never had a child with that kind of formula.. so it was new to them. I hope I helped.

March 29, 2007 at 12:29 pm #28878AnonymousInactiveThank you so much, Sarah. I’m going to call and see what we can get over here. Again, I’m so happy for you and Quinn
March 29, 2007 at 12:49 pm #28882AnonymousInactiveSarah: Great Great Great! Way to munch Quinn!!!!
Carson also had a gain! He is now 20.11 pounds. He is 20 months so still quite small but we were thrilled! It is so nice to have something positive happen! So happy for you Sarah!!!
I have a question about the Peptamin Junior. I called the # but the nutritionist was busy and the gal that answered was scared of my questions! I looked up galactosemia and it talks about digesting the sugar….. It has partially hydro whey – is that broken down like Nutramagin ??? Carson was on Neocate so I don’t think this will work for him but it would be SO GREAT not to have to pay the $$$ for the Neocate any more. Anyone know about this product? Is it worth a try? Or, I was thinking of having him prick tested again this spring and maybe his milk allergy wouldn’t show up ? Maybe I should do that before I try this? Whatchathink??
March 29, 2007 at 1:32 pm #28886AnonymousInactiveBrenda, great news about Carson’s weight gain.

March 30, 2007 at 7:03 am #28998AnonymousInactiveWow, what a positive thread. Its so great to hear that Quinn and Carson are doing so well. Lori…I hope there might be something in this for you too and we can hear about chunky munky hailey soon.
March 30, 2007 at 1:34 pm #29053AnonymousInactiveYAY!!! That is wonderful news! I know you were so happy!!!!
March 31, 2007 at 2:38 pm #29142AnonymousInactiveYay for Carson too! (Thanks for the wishes Therese. Hailey is pretty chunky already, but she just isn’t gaining weight anymore. She used to gain from the sleep feeding, but it isn’t enough anymore. We need to find something high calorie that she’ll drink voluntarily during the day so we can cut the night feeds altogether)
March 31, 2007 at 11:54 pm #29176AnonymousInactiveBrenda, the peptamin junior… from what my doctors told me… is exactly like Nutramigen except it is way more in calories. I’m sorry that you had such a hard time with the formula folks. Maybe you could try calling again and perhaps get someone on who knows what they are talking about. Isn’t it funny how people get so intimidated with our questions. I know way more about Quinn’s condition… and pretty much anything related than most doctors and nurses.. all the way down the the medical mumbo jumbo and the REAL names for the prescriptions. I make sure I know what kind of side effects a drug may have and everything. I find it funny when a nurse tells me something I might want to hear only to find that the information I already knew that it wasn’t the question I was asking anyways… then they really get on their toes and get my questions answered. It’s rather funny.
— Great news on Carson’s gain!!! i’m so happy for you both!!!
Lori- I do hope that you can find something so that way Hailey can start gaining some weight soon.

April 1, 2007 at 1:55 pm #29206AnonymousInactiveThanks Sarah. We just need to find a supplement that she’ll drink well. Right now that’s a challenge.
