I remember this happening the last time he was on prevacid. Lots of stomach pain and gas. Now he is constipated really bad in a matter of 2 days! He is screaming like crazy! Has anyone else had this happen and did they continue with the prevacid?

sarah–at one point, riley was on 45mg prevacid/day. at that dose, we did notice he was more fussy and irritable. we dropped back to 30mg (our previous dose) and added pepcid instead and that did the trick. my ped’s little boy had what she felt was stomach pain from prevacid, and she stopped it.

i’m sure you’ve considered this but i’m just throwing things out: could he be acting in pain from the constipation and not the prevacid? at that age, riley got VERY fussy when constipated. sometimes to the point where he would scream. have you tried adding mylanta to your regiment of meds? that can help with the constipation, too…

Gina-Thanks for your reply! Since this post we went to the regular ped who thought that he was having stomach pain from the prevacid maybe from a possible lactose intolerance. He also said that Isaac was refluxing pretty badly again. So he gave us the old medicine back again and so far we are just waiting for it to work again. We were told it would take up to 2 weeks again. As for the constipation it went away when we switched back to protonix. We have always been huge fans of mylanta here! It works so fast! We also use mylicon on a regular basis! We are just hoping that he feels better soon!
