Here are some products I found at http://www.allergygrocer.com and at some of my local health food stores. I still haven’t expanded my TED to include all of these ingredients yet (chocolate will be coming soon!), but before exploring allergygrocer.com, I didn’t know some of these products existed.
- Corn-Free Egg-Free Marshmallows: From Elyon
Special corn-free (and also egg-free now!) marshmallows made only for Passover. While they look, taste, & feel EXACTLY like the regular ones, they are processed with potato syrup & fish (instead of bovine) gelatin. Stock up before they are gone for another year!
Ingredients: sugar, potato/tapioca syrup, water, kosher fish gelatin (from Nile Perch or Tilapia), tapioca starch, flavors (artificial vanillin).
If you need something sweet and can’t eat corn… you could make rice crispy treats with these, I’d think.
- Enjoy Life Foods Chocolate Chips
Ingredients: evaporated cane juice, chocolate liquor, non-dairy cocoa butter
- Organic Powdered Rice Milk: From Miss Roben’s
This 100% vegetable, Organic, GMO-free, creamy dry white milk powder alternative when added to water has the opacity, flavor, & mouth feel of typical 2% fat milk without the dairy. Use as a beverage or in any recipe calling for milk, powdered milk, or Dari-Freeā¢
To make milk: Use 1/4 cup powder for every 8oz water. Start with a small amt of hot water to dissolve powder before adding remaining cold water. Chill & serve. Refrigerate unused liquid for up to 5-7 days
Shelf life 24 months.
Ingredients: white rice powder* (rice syrup powder, rice starch, rice flour), salt stabilizer: carrageenan (from seaweed). * = organically grown. Spray dried using only natural rice derivatives (rice oil).
This has a lot less ingredients than the more common rice milks and you might be able to use this if your little one can handle rice, but not the other rice milks.
- Cheecha Krackles: Distributed through Ener-G Foods
A fat-free, mildly flavored, crunchy, fun shaped, snack that’s free of gluten & rice. Great for pre-toddlers and toddlers.
Ingredients: potato flour (granules), potato starch, salt. Lightly misted with non-hydrogenated sunflower oil.
