You know those big exercise balls… well I have been sitting on one and bouncing Adriana to sleep. I has been working so great!
Just a little tip for any colicky babies.
Now I just need to start using it for exercise too

She still to this day does NOT like to be rocked so on those rare nights when she wakes up crying from teeth, being sick or whatever…we resort back to the good old exercise ball!! The only bad thing is that my friend who is a developmental therapist always gets the ball out and holds her and lets her jump on it (which she LOVES)…so now in the middle of the night when I get the ball out she thinks it’s play time!
Ya know though, in all my “bouncing” I never saw any benefits when it came to losing weight! Maybe I was bouncing wrong…I’ll try squeezing my butt next time or something!
March 14, 2007 at 12:29 am #27462AnonymousInactiveI tried the ball with Alana- she thought it was hilarious…just proceeded to wake her up more. Maybe I was doing it wrong! Oh well… evergreenie2007-3-14 0:31:3
March 15, 2007 at 2:40 pm #27582AnonymousInactiveMaybe I should try this! Ben has just recently decided he doesn’t like to be rocked either. I have to walk around the room and bounce a little. The ball would be so much easier. Actually, I usually just end up putting him in the bed, but on those days when that doesn’t work, the ball would be a nice option.

But I remember the bouncer…the funniest part was when she would have gas, I was trying to bounce at the same time as move her legs in and out…it is a wonder I didn’t fall and break my tailbone in the process.
March 23, 2007 at 5:23 pm #28301AnonymousInactiveWe bounced her in the amby and then did the rocking chair thing. In the middle of the night when I was exhausted, the last thing I wanted to do was try to bounce around on an exercise ball. Also, I never had enough balance to bounce while holding a baby and not roll off!
March 23, 2007 at 8:13 pm #28315AnonymousInactiveNone of my 3 reflux babies ever liked to rock 🙁 I always thought I would be able to rock my babies, but nope. I guess it aggrivates the reflux. The only thing that has ever comforted any of my kids in the middle of the night is nursing! So, for the first year of their lives, I was the only one who could comfort them…it made for long night for me, but I was happy I could provide some comfort for them too.
August 21, 2007 at 2:09 pm #41482AnonymousInactiveThe large excercise ball is the only break I get. My daughter will not let anyone sit when they are holding her, but the movement from the ball keeps her content. We do have the Amby bed but she doesn’t seem to care for it. I can’t help but think she is not raised enough to be comfortable. Any suggestions for getting the amby bed to work?
November 17, 2008 at 1:16 pm #58762AnonymousInactiveOh my goodness I want one of those Amby beds! They look like they would be so comfy for baby 🙂 Mine sleeps in her car seat cause she hates her bed. I guess the reflux and colic she just doesn’t like it. Those things are expensive though. Does anyone know where to get one cheaper?
November 17, 2008 at 2:15 pm #58763AnonymousInactiveE-bay. We got ours much cheaper on e-bay. I hear you can check craigs list also. Mine didn’t really help as much as I would’ve liked it too, but I still love it. Meaning he didn’t sleep as much as I would have liked for him too. It was nice though to be able to put Justice in it and just sit there and bounce it up and down. It worked wonders to get him to sleep. They are so super easy to put together and travel with. I would not recommend buying one new, just because of the possibility of it not working for your baby. Oh, and you really have to play around with it to get it at the right angle for baby. I would not be shy at all about calling the company to ask how to get it more elevated. If you decide to get one that is. Oh, and you can always sell it back on e-bay if it doesn’t work for you. The Amby bed was a big waste of money – I would not recommend it. We did use the tucker sling – that was money well spent. We pretty much alternated my daughter from the ultimate baby wrap (which was great) to the tucker sling to the bouncer seat. It was the only way to keep her comfortable. We also brought her to bed with us and propped her up. It is against all of the research and recommendations but it really helped. She slept better with us and in turn we began to sleep more.
Gripe water worked pretty well although on the kellysmom website they said that gripe water is not good for kids with reflux. I can’t remember why – I was so tired!!!!! -
