I am sooo frustrated this weekend! And it’s a shame because I was all ready to post on the good day board last week. Dani’s started crawling and we figured out her “eating strike” problem – too much comfort nursing in the early am (started getting up earlier and playing and she’s been taking breakfast with OraPred just fine). But darn that OraPred! The last sinus infection was in December, I think. She’s still got the killer mood swings and the sleeping problems from the OraPred, but I was hoping that we were finally past this immunity problem. Guess not. We got back from Texas Childrens (appointment with the derm – good news there, her lip has greatly improved in their view and we’re tapering her off the steroids 1/2 mL every 2 weeks, so only 4 months to go )… Anyway, we got back from Texas Childrens on Thursday, and she was okay albeit a little mellow. Friday she cried unless she was being held. Took her to the grocery Friday afternoon, put her in the Snugli (which she normally hates) and all she did was hang out in there and whimper. Got home and all she wanted to do was nurse. And then I noticed the famous “sinus infection snot!” Saturday was pretty unpleasant as well. She started the morning off by covering me in spit up – more like a shower really, impeccable aim, let me tell you. And then she was either miserable or really perky – mood swings again! (And is it me but do hubbies pick the worst times to be out of town!!!)
Anyway, I don’t know how she’s going to do today. I didn’t even bother trying to fight with her to sleep on her own last night – I let her cosleep the entire night and I feel like we got a decent night’s sleep. She’s so far in a pretty good mood – can’t see any obvious signs of congestion at the moment (yipeee, not snot!), but she also hasn’t eaten yet. Probably another 30 minutes before I can give her the Prevacid and then we’ll see how breakfast/OraPred go down and hopefully stay down. We’ve got a tentative appointment with the ped on Monday morning – I’d soooo like nothing better than for her to feel so much better and be soooo much better that I could call and cancel tomorrow morning and not have to put her on another round of antibiotics.
Sorry, I just had to vent! I know that her biggest obstacle to getting over this recurring sinus infection is the OraPred and 4 months seems just way too long to wait for her to hopefully start feeling better. Thanks for listening, though!

there are a lot of babywearers in texas- I know you have so much to do and it’s hard to get out of the house, etc, but I truly think this ‘communiyty’ could be a great resource in many ways for you just click on he ‘texas’ link at the top of the page http://www.wearyourbaby.com/Default.aspx?tabid=87#Texas– you mention a snuggli- well there are lots of additional great options, too…
ok, off topic, sorry…
also, after a round of antibiotics, we always used probiotics- acidopholus- to help restore the ‘good’ flora & fauna in Jonah’s digestive system that was destroyed by the antibiotics- we used baby jarodopholus brand in the refrigerated section of whole foods…
