I like to research on the BBB board- where’s that link? erg. site is undergoing maintanance (sp?) http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topics& ; ; ; ;forum=13
is this it? http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic& forum=13&topic_id=53522&mode=full
if not, use their ‘search’
another good site: http://www.cpsafety.com/default.aspx
I’m very very pro rear-facing for as long as possible… http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/StayRearFacing.aspx
there’s the Radian by Sunshine Kids. It has the same weight limits as the Britax Marathon, and also RF tethers. It is really heavy, though, since it’s shell is made out of steel. The back is kind of high also so it might be hard to fit RFing in the car- you might have to move the front seat up pretty far.
Britax also makes the Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe- it has a lower weight limit (55lbs) and no RF tether…
seats that can be tethered rear-facing helps get a really tight install. It would keep a seat from re-bounding in a crash and would help keep the seat in place in a side impact crash. You don’t have to have a tether anchor installed in your car, you just find a sucure place to put it. the britax seats come with a D-ring which is a strap you an use to to wrap around something to hook the tether to, I’m not sure if the other seats that can be tethered rear-facing come with D-ring or nothellbennt 2007-2-21 8:9:18 February 20, 2007 at 5:30 pm #25347AnonymousInactivethanks about the tethering info.. i wasnt too sure what was important or not and why..
i still cant make up my mind! this is soo confusing.. i really want the britax but my husband cant understand spending the money on it… he thinks there has to be something just as good!
please any other recommendations for something else?! i want it to be comfortable for him too.. i do like the fischerprice but its a bit pricy as well!

Are you planning on keeping him rear facing (I assume you are since he’s under a year). I would recommend that you try out the seats, or buy locally so you can return it if you’re not happy with it. This improtant with all seats (rear or forward facing) but using a convertible seat in the rear facing position can be tricky to say the least, so it’s a good idea to “try before you buy”.
Here’s an example. I bought a Graco Comfort Sport when Liza outgrew her infant carseat. I installed it rear facing and found that it is impossible to access the harness adjuster because it is flush against the back of the car’s back seat. So, you can’t adjust the harness once the seat is installed. I would have never thought of that until I brought the thing home and installed it. It was a fine seat for forward facing but impossible to use rear facing, even though the manufacturer says it can be used both ways.
Also, I bought an Eddie Bauer 3 in 1. I installed it and then found that the harness is very difficult to adjust and it was almost impossible to get a snug fit with my then 9 month old infant, so I had to return it.
Do you live near a baby store where you can try out the seats? Or at least return it if you are not happy with it. Or are you planning on buying online?
