I know Dagney’s been feeling better, and that’s the real issue here, but I am SO tired of being covered in spit up all the time!! She’s usually ok through the afternoon, then the dams let loose! (Although today, she sprung a gusher at 7:30am!!) It doesn’t seem like she’s in pain at all, so that’s good, but it seemed like for a few days her spit up had lessened, but now it’s back almost as bad as before. I’m tired of being sticky, her being all wet and clammy, and smelling like regurgitated Neocate & rice cereal!!!
I was so upset last night, I changed her for bed (from her soaked jammies to new ones), fed her–after about 40 minutes she still wasn’t done, one of those great Dr Browns nipples that isn’t cut like the rest, so she couldn’t get anything out–then, after she gave up on eating, she spit up all over herself again just as she was drifting off, so I had to change & re-start rocking etc. She finally got to sleep, so I took a bath, then she woke up 1 hour later, spit up on me, and promptly passed out for the night. UGH!!
Just needed to let that out!!

I was covered in puke many times each day and I was constantly cleaning puke off of walls and floors. The washer and dryer were going all day long and I can’t tell you how many times he threw up all over his jammies just as I was ready to put him to bed. I rarely left the house because I never knew when he was going to spew his stomach contents all over the place and I really didn’t want to deal with that in public.
Fortunately he was pain free and happy thanks to Prevacid.
I was thankful that he was happy and not in pain, but it still was very difficult. No one really understands except another mom who’s been there. All I can say is hang in there, know that you are not alone, and be assured that it does get better. Myles had many ups and downs with his reflux but it was finally gone for good at 9 months.

I wish I could tell you there is a certain age when the spit up will stop, but after almost 14 months of constant spitting up, I’ve about given up on it myself. I’m constantly washing blankets, clothes, bedding, etc. every day too. I’ve gotten so I take a towel everywhere we go, and try to time things when he’s less likely to spit up. It’s very stressful and frustrating. Bryce even got to a point when the spitting up was causing him to not gain weight. He was diagnosed with DGE and put on meds. Believe it or not, the medicines reduced his spitting up dramatically – and he still spits up a lot. But like you said with Dagney, Bryce is pain free, and that’s what matters most. It’s still really hard though.
Good luck, and hang in there! Hopefully they’ll both outgrow this soon!!

All I can say is HUGS!
