Hi again,
Well, still no bm and we’re ending day 3… I’m hoping this is just his system changing and not a reaction to Prevacid. Anyway, I’ve noticed today that his toots smell really bad. They never did before. Has anyone experienced this and could it be due to Prevacid? He is exclusively breastfed (nothing new to cause this).
Thanks!

January 30, 2007 at 9:07 am #23543AnonymousInactiveYup, same here! Hailey’s gas has always stunk so bad that it would send people running from her presence, but it was much worse when she was constipated. Then things usually let up a bit.

Once we got Andrew’s food intolerances figured out, the days of constipation, stinky gas, pain with passing gas, and “colic” were over! Yeah. (Now we have the opposite problem – some nights to cope with the reflux, we give him what turns out to be too much Mylanta and he has terrible diarrhea the next day.)

Caden isn’t constipated though. When he does go, it’s always watery. He’s strictly breastfed. He does have stinky gas though, and this is a new thing since he turned 3 months old, and basically since he started going 1-4 days between bms.
I would LOVE to figure out what food intolerances (if any) he has, but I’ve had no luck so far. Once you’ve tried TED for 3 weeks without much difference (or at least not enough that you can contribute it directly to the diet), what do you do??? I even eliminated rice for the last few days of TED and thought it was helping, because he had a stool without much mucous, but then we were back to the mucousy stools again the next day
Thanks

Same here. My 6 week old is strictly breastfed. She was diagnosed with silent reflux at 1 week and it seems to be getting progressively worse. She is on Axid (1.4 ML twice per day) I notice a direct correlation between her fussiness, no BMs and the Axid. I feel like the meds are causing the gas. .. Therefore a neverending cycle of crying!

Just kiddin – gas with little sweeties is no fun. Hope you can figure out what is causing it soon!!

Isn’t this frustrating?!? Trying to figure out what is helping/hurting
I think I need to take a break from this board, although these ladies have been so sweet and helpful to answer my questions. You can go crazy trying so many different things with ups and downs, eliminating this, adding that, upping doses, etc.
It’s all-consuming to me right now, and I have 3 other children who aren’t getting the attention they should because of my obsession with this!
So, I am officially going away for awhile before I lose my mind
I hope to be able to post something positive about Caden in the future…
Thanks everyone

You are doing a great job – it can be so frustrating at times and the feelings of being about to lose your mind is totally normal. I am sure you will be able to post something positive about Caden very soon and all of this will soon be behind you guys!! By the way, I just love that name – it is so cute!!

Just enjoy your children and know that this, too, will pass. It won’t last forever.
