Just wondering if anyone else experieces this…

On a daily basis my son spits up from excitement and smiling. (His reflux is getting better in that he is happy, and seems comfortable. I would say his spitting up has decreased since I went with a milk free diet and a low lactose formula, which I am thinking about switching to lactose free. I breastfeed and supplement formula.)

Anyhow, he is so happy and cute, and ofcourse I have to interact with him. I try to limit play for 20-30 minutes after a meal, but it doesn’t matter. An hour or more after eating, he is super happy, cooing and then…..throwing up. Not copius amounts, but definitely up to an ounce or so, which worries me…ofcourse I want my baby to get enough to eat and gain weight well.

Can anyone else relate to the smiling/excitement puke? And if so, what are you doing to deal with it?

Sorry I have no advice, but on the bright side, he sounds like a happy spitter now (which is better than an unhappy spitter!). As long as it isn’t interfering with weight gain, I wouldn’t worry too much. I think it’s all part of the reflux thing- Hailey never spit up from laughing, but to this day empties her stomach with the slightest tears. Glad to hear things are doing better.

Thanks! Sometimes he does get cranky from reflux, but I suspect that often it is actually gas causing the discomfort–once he burps he is ok again. So I guess it is all trial and error! But he is definitely an otherwise happy baby. He smiles all the time!:)
