has anyone found that thier child is worse when on these? I gave some to Brianna thinking it might help, and I swear, since then, she has woken up more times at night than ever…anyone else have a problem with them?
December 12, 2006 at 1:50 pm #20151AnonymousInactivemaybe you got a brand that has milk/soy in it because many of them do.
and what dose did you give?December 13, 2006 at 5:14 pm #20299AnonymousInactiveonly half of what was recommended…how long does it take probiotics to work…should you see an immediate difference, or will they need it in the system for a week or so first.
December 13, 2006 at 5:59 pm #20302AnonymousInactivei dont think you’ll see a big difference outwardly with them, its just for their over all health, like a vitamin kind of, helps them digest a little better but not like a medicine. and keeps their system with good bacteria.
one kind are you giving her? and is it for adults or specifically children?
December 13, 2006 at 7:15 pm #20308AnonymousInactivethere were several moms on here that reported after starting probiotics their babies slept wonderfully, and their tummy troubles seemed to disapear. though i cant remember how long it took to take effect.
maybe someone will chime in.December 13, 2006 at 7:23 pm #20310AnonymousInactiveAidan got tummy cramps for the first 2ish weeks on them. I’m deffinitly putting him back on starting tomorrow and I seriously expect some negative effects before the positives come out (he’s been on antibiotics for over a month). I did stop using them though when he was little b/c of the cramping.
December 13, 2006 at 10:05 pm #20335AnonymousInactiveya i said that shane slept better.. since i started them, not sure if its completely from them or not, but i think it might help his digestive system a little better…but i didnt see dramatic results. like i dont think at least right away you will see anything as less spitup or less reflux symtoms.. but who knows?
December 18, 2006 at 1:29 pm #20678AnonymousInactiveare they safe to use everyday? The last time I gave these to Brianna they seemed to make all her bubbles and cramping go away…this time the oposite, but she is sleeping in later in the AM…who knows..I took them (to try and give them to her through my BM)and all they did for me was give me super soft stools.
The one I have does have dairy (trace amount) in them, but we have beein give my daughter yogurt and cheese for a month now, and she has been, for the most part, sleeping the same (that was the only symptoms she had last time). Her poops are a little bit more explosive than before, but no rash or mucous or blood…I think her body is just adjusting to the dairy.
December 18, 2006 at 2:36 pm #20693AnonymousInactiveB’s mom, let me know how these work for you this time. I’ve been thinking about using them with Ben. After stopping the Mylanta with him, his explosive poopy diapers and tummy burbling have stopped, but now he seems a little out of sorts digestively. He has started skipping days without have a poopy diaper, and, while I know this isn’t too abnormal for a breastfed baby, it’s a huge change for him. I’m wondering if all the diarrhea from the Mylanta may have wiped out the good bacteria he needs.
December 18, 2006 at 6:11 pm #20705AnonymousInactiveohh, i was trying to remind myself if the kind she is taking is for adults or children??? that could be a problem…
and no not everyday, its too much, i do every 3 days.
December 18, 2006 at 9:45 pm #20716AnonymousInactiveI think every three days is a good idea…I have noticed that it seems great the first day, but then if I keep it up, it seems to cause more problems…I am using one that is specific for infants so that should be ok.
December 19, 2006 at 3:19 pm #20733AnonymousInactiveI use probiotics with both my kids, allergen free ones, and just give them each a half dose, and I do it daily with no issues, interesting about the giving every 3 days…havent heard of that….I take them as well and if I dont take them everyday I have issues (but I have IBS)…so who knows, all I know is if you notice discomfort I would either lessen the amount, do it every few days or switch kinds or wait. With my youngest we just started her about 3-4 weeks ago…(around 4 months)
