Have read some stuff on partially hydrolised formula & runny green poo on the forum. Well just thought i’d let you know that I am trialling alana on a normal formula and after three days- hey presto- no more dark green runny poos. Some more evidence towards these special formula’s both tasting disgusting and looking disgusting when they come out the other end (LOL).
November 22, 2006 at 12:47 am #18739AnonymousInactivejust curious…youre trying normal milk based formula? does she have a milk allergy? (your sig)
November 22, 2006 at 1:34 am #18740AnonymousInactiveWe don’t really know. We started reflux meds and pepti-jnr at the same time. Now that her reflux is good we have decided to try a milk based formula and see if she will have any reaction. (we have tried before but her reflux was never really under control) If she dosn’t have an allergy or intolerance it would be good to know prior to starting solids. So beginnith my experiment. I have never had a lot of faith in the pead who suggested this in the beginning- time will tell.
November 22, 2006 at 8:32 am #18745AnonymousInactiveme 2! we started them at the same time as well. and are trying to get on a milk based for the past week… and YES the green runny poos have stopped!
i hope it goes well for you!
December 1, 2006 at 12:21 am #19353AnonymousInactivemy baby’s poop is dark green as well.(Is that normal???) She is on Enfamil – Gentlease. I don’t know if it has reflux babies.
December 1, 2006 at 12:52 am #19354AnonymousInactiveApparently it is for the broken down formula’s. I’m not familiar with the US formulas, so not sure if Enfamil is one of the hydrolosised once. Since being on a normal formula her poos are now a little more “normal”
December 1, 2006 at 9:43 am #19358AnonymousInactivetherese, how is she doing??? is everything else alright on the normal formula?! thats great if so..
and enfamil gentlease is a tiny bit broken down and has less lactose.
December 1, 2006 at 7:03 pm #19385AnonymousInactiveShes doing really well so far. She has been a bit irritable but is constantly rubbing her gums and i can feel the teeth so thats probably it. No rashes or anything. Two weeks and counting. How about you guys?
December 1, 2006 at 7:15 pm #19386AnonymousInactivewe went back .. no rashes or anything funny. the only thing is that he kept spitting up more and it was like curdy.. sooo i thought he wasnt digesting it as well.. he wasnt more irritable or anything.. soo now i am not sure if i made the right decision. i also noticed one poopy diaper that had like little stringy black things.. soo i got scared and thought it might be blood.. they kinda looked like as if it was the little things in a banana possibly.. i am not sure though. oh well.. i have been considering goats milk though… or soy… or completely regular to find out if its a intolerance or not finally! i dont know, i am in a state of confusion, but i do know one thing WE ARE GOING BROKE FROM THE ALIMENTUM! he is doing the powder now, and spitting up like water.. soo who knows, i am even more confused……
well i am glad that alana is doing so good, thats great! hows her reflux? under control??
December 2, 2006 at 2:45 am #19404AnonymousInactiveHi, tried to send you a private message but your limit is exceeded!!!
Alana’s reflux is pretty well controlled at the moment- Its great!!! I am thinking of tryin to reduce the Zantac but might wait until after christmas.
Sorry to hear that things didn’t work out well. How long did you last. And yeh I get the whole confusion thing. I wonder though, if he wasn’t irritable and it didn’t increase his reflux whether he might have been OK with it. Thats kind of what I was looking for when I changed. I am going to give it a couple more weeks before I call it a total success.
Alana also has thrown up a few curds- but I think thats because normal formula is thicker and takes longer to be digested as compared to the semi-elemental ones. As long as it doesn’t hurt them it probably doesn’t really matter if its a bit thicker.
As for the blood- maybe you could try normal formula again and get his stool tested for blood to confirm or set your mind at ease? I understand why you freaked. I’m not sure how you go about this but have read a few mums have had it done?
You have my sympathy re the costs of the formula- the health system sounds like a pain. Luckily over here the government covers most of the cost, but still with all the Drs appoints and meds the cost does add up.
