So Marisa officially decided she can walk today! For about 1.5 weeks now
she’s been doing where she will take 3-4 wobbly steps to me or DH (and
she’s been walking great with only a finger for help for a while now). But this
morning we were at our play class at the temple and she walked halfway
across the room a few times and then followed another toddler out of the
room and walked down the hall, turned the corner and into another room!
So crazy and cute. So that is really good – we are battling worsening eating
issues, but…
November 2, 2006 at 11:26 am #17067AnonymousInactiveHooray for Marisa! It’s so cute (and surprising) when they suddenly just start doing something out of the blue like that. I’m anxiously awaiting the moment Myles decides he can walk, too.
I’m sorry to hear she is having worsening eating issues. Is she just not eating any table food? Myles is making slow progress, but still he’s way behind. Part of me says I should stop feeding him purees, or at least cut way down on them, and that maybe he will be hungrier and be more willing to try things, but the other part of me says pureed fruits and veggies are better than no fruits and veggies.
What are feeding Marisa these days?

I don’t have much to say about the eating issues except that I hate feeding problems! (and reflux!). What kinds of issues is she having? Hailey barely eats more than a couple of bites for dinner, no breakfast, if we’re lucky a few bites for lunch, a few sips of soy milk during the day, and 2 sleep fed bottles (8oz in total)…
On a happy note again… yipee for the walking! Soon she’ll be running to chase the other kids! That’s when it gets really fun.
November 2, 2006 at 12:22 pm #17079AnonymousInactiveIt was so crazy – she literally took off – one of the nannies said to me “I
didn’t know she could walk” and all I could do was laugh and say that I didn’t
know either!
Christine and Lori – she has been boycotting even grilled cheese, chicken
nugget and french toast lately. Still eating buttered English muffins (in small
amounts) and some (very limited) purees, not much else besides freeze
dried fruit and veggie booty. But she did just get another eye tooth and the
bottoms are right there and molars close too. I’m hoping to hear from Thais
soon about the OT she had recommended for dealing with feeding/texture
issues.
November 2, 2006 at 1:01 pm #17081AnonymousInactiveYEAH on teh walking!! Or not… i have to say that Matthew just takes off and it is becoming increasingly dangerous (granted we are at my parents and nothing is babyproofed here!!).
I responded to your other post about Stephanie
November 2, 2006 at 1:11 pm #17083AnonymousInactiveThanks Thais – I’ll go check that out now. We babyproofed some, but not a
lot – we’ll see what more we have to do I guess… How long are you in Spain
for?
November 2, 2006 at 1:29 pm #17086AnonymousInactiveShe may be tired of the same old thing, but not willing to try new things. It’s frustrating, I know. Myles spits everything out except whole grain crackers, puffs, rice cakes, and cheerios. He can’t live on that. He is eating plenty of purees, though. Maybe her teeth are really bothering her and that’s part of the problem.
I hope it gets better soon and if not that the therapist Thais recommends can help her. If you see her please post suggestions! Thanks!
November 2, 2006 at 2:00 pm #17088AnonymousInactiveI think you hit the nail right on the head, Christine. She’s definitely sick of
the same stuff and her teeth are definitely a big factor. Problem is she’s
always had these issues – so we should probably start to address them. I’ll
definitely post if/when we see the therapist. For now, at least she just had a
jar of carrots/peas (with distraction from a book) and veggie booty…
November 2, 2006 at 6:27 pm #17102AnonymousInactiveThat’s Awesome, Karen! It’s always exciting when they reach new milestones.
Sorry to hear about the feeding issues… Good luck with that.
November 3, 2006 at 9:06 am #17138AnonymousInactiveGreat milestone!!
