Grant’s reflux has been so severe that I have been swimming with my neck just above the water for about 6 mos now…BUT the prevacid 30 mg and pepcid will soon begin to work and I was wondering what some of you have done for breastfeeding/napping, food and medicine schedules at or around 7 mos.
With pain in the way, hunger and sleep cries/cues seem to be lost in the mix and with a curious 2 year old around to boot! Any schedule would be greatly appreciated-we can’t seem to get off this 3 hour thing and with nursing I don’t know if I should just stay this way until we transition to soy milk around a year old…though I think I may die to wait that long!
Current meds are: (prevacid 30 mg-split in 2 doses am and supper and pepcid 10mg night time per Dr. Phillips Marci kids)
Thank you!!!!!!!

October 29, 2006 at 4:28 pm #16762AnonymousInactiveAidan has no schedule!!! I tried but there was just no way to be able to stay on a strict med schedule with all the stuff my older son does. I do however adhere to the empty tummy/30 mins thing when he is sick, but that’s the only time I attempt to do that.
October 29, 2006 at 7:28 pm #16769hellbenntKeymasterI always tried my best to stick to routine, and a schedule of sorts seemed to appear on it’s own somehow
for nursing, I just let baby lead and then take note of what times of day we nursed…if you want to cut down on nursing, I’d wait until maybe 9 or 10 months & then replace a nursing session with a snack…

do you remember how many times roughly a day you nursed around 7 mos with Jonah? he’s at that stage where they stop to look at everything even the walls in an empty room when i can manage it and it causes an air bubble which stops a feed every time. the less nursing sessions i can manage then the less time we’ll spend each day trying to burp him i think…

October 30, 2006 at 7:47 am #16779hellbenntKeymasterI can’t really remember. I do know that I visited my sister when Jonah was 10 months and at that time I started cutting down to be down to 2x in July (12months)…so maybe 4-6 times a day at 7 months? that’s truly a guess…
is he sleeping at night? can you ‘tank’ him up at night/evening and morning (& maybe nap time) when he’s most relaxed?
October 30, 2006 at 11:46 am #16802AnonymousInactivethere are still wakigns at night but i try at all costs not to go in becuase then i have to feed and it takes 45 mins at the least!!!
the early and late feeds are going much better than the mid day ones…it’s roughly about 6, 10, 1, 4, 7 just seemed a little like an infant schedule to me at 7 mos and i was wondering if refluxers just don’t ever get to the 4 hour schedule if they are nursed?…
of course i like to nurse but it does swallow the day!
October 30, 2006 at 12:14 pm #16804hellbenntKeymasterwell, I know of non-refluxers who nurse like that…not that it makes you feel any better
can you just go about your day and stop to nurse when you’re out and about? maybe he’d be distracted & you wouldn’t even have to stop when out & about?
October 30, 2006 at 12:43 pm #16812AnonymousInactiveoh, distraction is a mom’s best friend, right girls?
thanks, laura!
