I was just wondering if any of you ladies have children of any age with not only reflux, but are lactose intolerant? My daughter has reflux, but has been having issues with dairy. Yogurt makes her vomit (dairy not soy) and any food that has milk in it will give her diaherra within an hour or two and will continue until it is completely out of her system.
I know that many of you maybe thinking that she is too young to have a intolerance to milk but rather an allergy to milk. But I did call my cousin who is a nurse and she agrees with me that if she had an allergy then it would not be just the diaherra. She is fine otherwise, at times she does have bad gas and from what I can tell it does bother her, since she does cry.
I would appreciate anything that you can tell me. I am thinking about calling the pulmonary specialist on Monday to discuss this issue. Oh, and the regular ped did give me a prescription for a compound of Lactaid in drops, since Johnson and Johnson no longer make the drops.
Thanks for listening and all of your help!!!

Also, I remember in the beginning with our Milk problems, we saw gastro probs first then it progressed after so many exposures to more of a hives, eczema reaction down the road. Like it built up…I’m no expert but that’s what happened to us. For some reason, your tag/signature didn’t show up on your post so I can’t see how old she is.

many babies cant handle any dairy and milk products, including my son. this is because they are sensitive to the milk protein, not milk sugar (lactose).

As she was exposed to more foods with milk the rash got worse. It didn’t develop into full blown hives until she started drinking large quantities of whole milk. So, an allergy can start out with pretty minor symptoms.

Lactose intolerance is rare but certainly possible.

BTW, I love your sig pic. Your kids are so cute! How were you able to post it, I’ve tried many times!
