I have a weird question and I tried to do a search on it and came up with nothing. After 7 months of this child literally never sleeping, I went on the elimination diet and one week later, she is sleeping all the time. I should be jumping for joy, right? Well, I can’t help but think this is so odd. She is sleeping way more than what would normal for a non-refluxing baby. We went from one end of the spectrum to the other. For example, she is now going to bed at 6pm and sleeping till 6am with only one night nursing (gasp!), but then after being awake for only one hour in the morning, she wants a nap. She goes down at 7:00am and sleeps till 9:30am. Then takes another nap from 11:30-1:30pm. Then another one from 3:15 to 4:15pm. Bed by 6pm again. Doesn’t that sound excessive?! All I can think is that her anemia is making her really tired and she finally feels well enough to actually sleep. I mean, even a growth spurt wouldn’t be this much sleeping would it? That’s like over 5 hours of napping! Any ideas why this might be?
Always worrying about something,

Interesting theory about the anemia though… both of mine are/were anemic, but not to a severe degree. Do you recall what her last hemoglobin level was?

Some mornings he would sleep til 10! I asked my mom if all that sleeping was normal for a baby his age. I think he was just catching up on all the sleep he missed the previous 5 months.
Now he’s sleeping what I think a “normal” 7 month old sleeps. I think some babies know what they need and your baby just needs more sleep right now. Take it while you can.

But I still think he is just catching up! I would just watch her and make sure she isn’t ill or something, but otherwise it sounds normal.

BAbies who are healthy and have no reason to wake in pain need a lot of sleep, but I can understand your feeling. If my child sleeps more than two hours without waking during a daytime nap I’m checking to make sure he’s not dead. Enjoy it while you can.
