Recently my daughter has had black bits in her poop.
Not everytime she goes but I’m worried. I have started weaning her onto solids so wondered if it was something she ate? (although we are both avoiding dairy and soya)
I guess I’m worried it could be blood although it is def black and not red.
Apart from her cold and teething she seems ok, any ideas?
I have never seen blood in stool but ask in the MSPI forum – i believe that the blood is actually brownish when it comes from the top of digestive system and more red if it originates further below
Frank bleeding appears blood red, whereas dried blood appears black and is often referred to as having the appearance of “coffee grounds”. That being said, Hailey has had this in her diaper a few times, but it was said not to be blood, but that some foods can also produce this appearance. Sorry, but the only one I can remember is banana. If you’re worried, then I would collect the next diaper and take it to your doc for a blood test.
