Hi ok well things were going GREAT until Wensday and now Jack has napping problems, he won’t lay down and nap like he used too now he just screams. I’m thinking it’s because of his reflux- he is a silent refluxer and I have been hearing it more more coming up on him so my question is this……… He is on 3.0 ml a of prevacid compounded( 3mg per ml) after reading the marci-kids website and if I have done my math correctly he should be on 8ml a day, right?!? based on the low dose of 1.25 mg/kg he’s 6.4kgs. If he’s on 8 ml a day that gives him 24mgs of prevacid, right?!? I was also wondering what other prevacid babies who are around this same weight are on?

I really think this is all related to the reflux because before jack was diagnosed and on meds he was a HORRIBLE napper and after reading through his baby book- I see a pattern.

Hi,

My son Haden is close to Jack’s age and also a silent refluxer. When he was 13 pounds his GI perscribed 15mg’s of Prevacid (Solutabs) a day. I would split this dose -7.5 in the AM and 7.5 in the PM. Looking back, this was not enough of a dose for Haden. During this time, he still had 3-4 screaming attacks during the day/night. It controlled alot of the reflux but he would still have attacks and frequent wakings during naps and at night.

You can read some more on the MARCI kid’s website about compounding. Are you having it flavored? Splitting into 2-3 doses?

Haden is now on Zegerid-20mg a day-split into 3 doses. We’ve had so much better results on this medication. Haden is a different child and has almost no pain!! Also, with Zegerid you don’t have to worry about timing the 30 minutes, etc. It’s WONDERFUL!!

I also give Haden Pepcid 1-2 times a day. Maybe you can add Zantac/Pepcid for before nap and bedtime???

Zach was a horrible napper too until we got his meds right. Now
he’ll take 2 to 3 hour naps!!! We found that giving Mylanta
before his naps used to help too. Worth a try……

My son Aidan, also a silent refluxer is 2 months old weighs 14 lbs and is on 30 mgs of prevacid (packets) once a day. (I give it to him in two 15 mg doses, one in morning one at night)
