matthew sucks both of his thumbs (not at the same time
) but since the cold weather has finally kicked in both his little thumbs are so chapped that they are actually cracked and bleeding. today he cried at lunchtime b/c he was dipping chicken nuggets into ketchup and the ketchup got onto his thumbs. i guess it must have burned. any suggestions on what i can put on them? most creams have so many ingredients that i am sure are just not edible and the boys are both sick with a cold so they are tired and matthew has been sucking his thumb more than usual. i tried today to give him a pacifier but he took it out (and jack freaked out thinking that it was his.)
i rubbed some olive oil on his thumbs today. any other suggestions? thanks guys!
My daughter has the exact same problem
. Her thumb has the most disgusting skin on it from being sucked on so much. When it gets all red and sore we usually put either diaper rash cream on it or chapstick (lip balm). We have to put it on a couple of times a day every day for about a week before it clears up. Was hoping she would have grown out of the habit by now……thanks so much everyone for the ideas!
i never thought of lansinoh. i could kick myself b/c i was just cleaning out my bathroom cabinet and threw a tube away!!!! i’ll be off to the store tomorrow. we are a little snowed in this morning!!
