Well, I shouldn’t complain too much because Zach has been doing great
on his new formula and is finally eating solids like a champ.
But…..this morning he woke up and his eye was swollen shut.
Once I got it cleaned up it was still so swollen that he could barely
open it. Of course we headed right to the doctor and sure enough
we have pink eye. He has not wanted to eat all day, is very fussy
and all he does is rub his eyes and now the other is starting to swell
up. And to make matters worse, I’m trying to keep him
away from Nate and that is driving them both crazy!!!! Any ideas
how to make him more comfortable?
Tricia, I don’t have any wonderful ideas, just sympathy. Kaelyn has had pink eye three times now (gotta love daycare), and it is really hard trying to keep her from rubbing her eyes. Dh and I just engage in fanatical handwashing to try to keep it from spreading. Two of the times it worked, the other time all three of us ended up with pink eye. Good luck!
Hailey had pink eye about a million times (it seemed anyway) her first year due to a blocked tear duct. Some were worse than others of course. I think they bothered me more than her because it just looks so bad.
Warm compresses for 10-15 minutes help ease the pain and discomfort and in between the antibiotic drops you can use some natural tears and this really helps too.
Thanks Kim and Stacey. The warm compresses seemed to help,
especially when he was getting tired. I think we are past the
worst of it but now just keeping our fingers crossed that the rest of
us will not get it!!!!
