I know reflux gets worse with teething, but does anyone know why. Justice just started to sleep really well again and now here comes teething. So frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been using teething tablets and at first they seemed to work, but now I’m not so sure. I know I could do Motrin or Tylenol, but I would hate to do that every night. With my first he just cried all the time, but this time the teeth are really bothering this one. Any advice?

Have you tried the Hyland’s teething gel? It’s like Orajel, but it’s 100% natural, so it’s safe to use as much as needed. That might help so you don’t have to use Tylenol as much.

hylands teething tablets were a godsend here!

as to why teething aggrevates reflux- hmmm…

What I can tell you why benedryl helps with teething (ann marie explained it!): the excess saliva containes histimines and benedryl is an antihistimine

dr phillips said teething creates histamines which in turn make more acid.

he said you can up meds during this time.

Thank you everyone. I talked to Dr. Phillips and he had me up his dose of meds. I have also been giving the Hyland’s teething tablets. I have no idea how much a 4 month old would get of benadryl. Very interesting about the histamines.

Where do you get Hylands Teething Tablets? I looked at Wal Mart and didn’t see them, but I wasn’t looking very hard. Instead I ended up buying every 99 cent teething ring I could find!

we have hylands in our CVS drugstores & I think also walgreens, but definitely in the health food market (whole foods)

as for doses of what to give babies go bookmark http://www.askdrsears.com

it’s so helpful! there’s charts there for every OTC med & their doses for babies according to weight

(I’m off to go look up infant tylenol dose as Ari just got his 2moth shots)
