April 15, 2007 at 12:19 am #30550AnonymousInactiveI’m posting these pictures anonymously. This way if someone types in my child’s name in the future, these pictures won’t be associated. I’d hate to embarrass my little one like that! The reason I am posting these pictures, is to help other parents out there. I’ve seen a lot posts asking “Is this stool normal?” I have only seen our child’s abnormal stools, these pictures may not be representative of blood in stools as a result of protein intolerance. I think it would be great if other families posted their abnormal stool pictures. This would provide a larger data base. If anyone is offended by these pictures, just let me know, and I will delete them from this site. The first picture shows a couple small specks of blood in a slightly mucus filled diaper. The first speck of blood can be seen in the center of the picture, the color of the blood in bright. The second speck is above the other one at the top of the picture. We had more severe bloody pictures, but we are having trouble finding them. They might have been erased. Blood started showing up in our little one’s diaper when he/she was almost a month old. Mucus showed up before that. The second picture is just of mucus, our child’s mucus became more severe than that pictured here. Again, we are having trouble finding the more severe pictures. Our child is breastfed, this is not a stool of an infant on formula. This stool is from a 1 1/2 month old.

I’m actually laughing at myself right now because I’m torn between thinking that we’ve reached a new low if we are posting pictures of dirty diapers and thinking that this is a great idea for parents who are worried about their children’s diapers. Nothing works as well as a visual!
April 15, 2007 at 5:58 pm #30585AnonymousInactiveI’m so happy to know I’m not the only one who took pictures of my child’s dirty diapers!! My husband thought I was crazy, but I wanted to show the doctor how bad the mucus was! He’s been begging me to delete the pictures from our camera, but I’ve kept them just in case. LOL
April 15, 2007 at 6:16 pm #30587AnonymousInactivethanks, i think thats a great idea! i always wanted to ask.. what does blood in the diaper look like??? i didnt know if it was blackish.. or actually looking like blood.. and i never really knew what mucous really meant… i didnt know how much was normal or not. but that helps!
April 15, 2007 at 7:40 pm #30601AnonymousInactiveThis is a mucousy diaper from before we switched to Neocate, and were using Pregestimil formula (it has the same hydrolyzed milk proteins as Nutramigen). I too don’t want to offend anyone, and I’m sorry if I have, but I agree that this may be very helpful to people wondering what is normal, and what isn’t. After switching to Neocate, we have said farewell to mucus! Hooray!
April 16, 2007 at 12:09 pm #30658AnonymousInactiveThank you for the pictures!
April 16, 2007 at 1:25 pm #30663AnonymousInactiveI am LOL as we speak. What we moms won’t do to help our little ones! I also thought about what you said with the anonymous business and can’t imagine the look on a person’s face when they are 25 years old and search their name and find a picture of their poo when they were wee little. You are so smart!
I hope this can help other moms to put a picture to what we are talking about! Not offended here!

Quick question though. what does mucous in the stool mean?

I see that you are back to Prevacid solutabs. Are they helping Brielle? Also, I like the new picture format. You must be really computer savvy! I could barely get the lilypie ticker to work!
May 22, 2007 at 2:52 pm #34134AnonymousInactiveCaden (actually all 3 of our boys) went through a period of their infancy with mucousy diapers. I never figured out what caused it. It’s strange, especially since I went on the full elimination diet for almost 3 weeks, but Caden’s diapers never changed. All 3 boys seemed to either outgrow the mucous or whatever caused it by about 6 months (coincidentally the same time solids were introduced).
I’m assuming all 3 of my boys had some type of intolerance, and the mucous and reflux was a response to it, but I never could figure out what it was.
Our older boys now have no signs of food intolerances or allergies, and Caden, now 6 months has normal diapers at this point.
Those pictures look sort of like Caden’s diapers of the past, although his were more yellow than that. Those look orange/brownish. He has had a few of those too, but his are mostly yellow in color. Now, he seems to have normal-looking bms.
May 22, 2007 at 8:31 pm #34165AnonymousInactiveI homostly dont know if they are working. She still isnt sleeping. She is still refluxing all over the place. I just give it to her 3x ped day and then give her 2ml of mylanta before each nap, at bedtime and when she wakes up crying in the middle of the night.
Im just tinkering with photoshop. Not that good at it yet. 8 months ago, I could barely get the lillypie ticker to work either 🙂
March 29, 2009 at 9:26 pm #61890AnonymousInactiveI am glad to read about your sons diapers. See my son has had them too and now they are gone. I am hoping he too outgrows whatever is going on. He is going to be 5 months on the 4th.
Could someone post a pic of a normal poop ha:)April 1, 2009 at 4:24 pm #61944AnonymousInactiveditto on the picture of normal poop!
Jaya’s stools went from mucus and specs of blood to mustardy in color with some mucus…I’ve been on TED for about 1 1/2 weeks and off dairy/soy for 2 weeks before that. When does one expect to see improvement? Could she be sensitive to the food in the diet? Dr. Sears’ site says it seems to get worse before getting better; but, that seems to be in reference to sleep…
**sigh**
TIA! I’m trying to get a grip here : )Mandy
